database is updated and released quarterly. You will get the latest edition
automatically if you subscribe to the service. If you are a retailer and

Q.
What exactly is Christian Music Finder, and what does it do?
A. Christian
Music Finder is a reference database of more than 600,000 Christian
music titles from more than 1,700 publishers and music companies. It can
be used on Windows 95 systems or higher. Christian Music Finder
searches song information four different ways: by songtitle, by artist
name, by collection name, and by composer. New "hot links" to the internet
enable users to instantly link to the publisher's or distributor's website.
New secondary search capabilities permit users to search for accompaniment
tracks, sheet music and other special formats. A new feature added in 2003
is a data filter, which permits a record store to mask or filter the data
so that only the recorded songs show. A sheet music store can set the filter
so that only printed music shows.
This reference turns your
sales staff into instant experts by putting the entire repertoire of Christian
music at their fingertips. This enables staff to give unparalleled customer
service when a customer has a question.
Christian Music Finder helps
increase sales helping you point out additional collections by the same
artist that the customer might be interested in.
Q.
When I go to install the CMF, I get an error 1327 from Installshield. What
do I do about that?
A. This
error can have more than one cause, and there is a tech note describing
the symptoms, cause, and recommended action at this
link. The error usually is caused when someone changes a registry setting
so that the windows installer cannot find the MyPictures folder. It can
be worked around by checking the registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current
Version\Explorer\User Shell Folders. There is a value here for personal.
It should be the drive and folder in which the MyPictures folder can be
found. The tech note has more details.
Q.
When I go to copy the database files to the hard drive, the menu item is
grayed (disabled). What do I have to do to make it work?
A. This
happens when the program is launched as a demo, and then the customer puts
in the customer key. Until the program is closed and reopened again, the
menu item to copy files is disabled. Upon re-opening the program, you will
find the menu item enabled and working. Be sure you allow this copy function
to finish, because it does take several minutes to copy 500 megs of data.
Q.
How do I find out how to use this program, since there is no manual that
accompanies it?
A. There
is an extensive Help system that comes with the program. These Help files
can be browsed or printed out and used to train staff to use the system.
In addition to the help files, refer to these FAQ pages for the latest
information.
Q.
I am a music publisher. How do I submit music titles for inclusion in the
next updated edition?

Q.

your question (mention CMF or Christian Music Finder) using our
feedback
form and we will send you an answer via e-mail as soon as possible.
