Ministering as Jesus Did:

A Challenging and Critical Workshop
for the Review and Renewal
of Educational Ministry

July 13 - 16, 2000 - Boston, Massachusetts
Last summer, ML Events invited you to spend three days of personal reflection and professional renewal with Monica Brown, one of Australia's leading religious educators and an internationally known presenter and composer. This workshop, based on Monica Brown's book, Embodying the God We Proclaim, was designed to involve religious educators - both catechists and religion teachers - in a creative and evaluative process that allows them to review their ministry. This is a very special opportunity to refresh your spirit and review your ministry in the company of fellow ministers.
Monica Brown is acclaimed for her work in creative, wholistic religious education and the spiritual development of children and adolescents. Rooted in scripture and integrated with creative processes, her work provides a balance between theory and practice. But beyond all that, Monica is a person who has the special gift of being able to help others get in touch with the sacred in their own lives and experiences. It is this gift that will provide the opportunity for a critical but nonjudgmental evaluation of educational ministry.

Questions addressed in this workshop:
  • What is at the heart of our ministry?
  • Why do we do what we do?
  • What image of God are we embodying to those to whom we minister?
  • Are we honoring the God we proclaim?
  • What are the implications of the model of Jesus' ministry upon our own ministry?
  • How at home would Jesus feel in our community and ministry activities?
  • Are we more or less recognizable as Jesus' disciples?
Fee includes a private room plus three meals a day beginning with dinner on Thursday and ending with lunch on Sunday; and a copy of Embodying the God We Proclaim. Total cost $495.

This retreat will be repeated when the list of registrants fills the facility. To register for the next Ministering as Jesus Did Workshop send your name, address, and daytime phone to:

Testimonials:

The workshop was both reflective and invigorating. Monica was able to challenge some of my "safe" interpretations of Jesus' ministry by offering a deeper and more intimate reflections of these.
Dennis McNeill

I particularly appreciated Monica's session on the Beatitudes...which remains in my consciousness as I meet the people to whom I am called to minister.
