Experience Liturgical Catechesis While You Learn!

  • Acquire new tools to enrich your ministry.
  • Learn how liturgy and catechesis prepare the community for ministry in daily life.
  • Acquire new tools to enrich ministry in your parish.
  • Examine the social/ethical implications of our ritual actions.
  • Find out how liturgy can revitalize your religious education programs.
Rather than being about liturgical catechesis, this event will model liturgical catechesis by working through the actual processes. Liturgical catechesis is not new; it is the process Jesus used. But many of us are new to doing it, having relied for a long time on classroom-oriented models.

Our baptism calls us to “full and active participation” at the same time the bishops of the world are asking us to move towards a more explicitly liturgical form of catechesis. At this exciting crossroads is an opportunity for true renewal.

In this conference, you will explore the various ways people participate and how their participation shapes and forms their faith. You will participate in special liturgies during the conference and, through the use of liturgical catechesis, unpack your own experience of these liturgies and its meaning. You will learn how to transfer this process to your parish in ways that will expand your fellow assembly members understanding of liturgy and enrich your catechetical programs.

WHO SHOULD COME

This conference is recommended for DREs, liturgists, catechists, musicians, initiation/RCIA ministers, preachers and presiders. It will be especially helpful to all who are seeking an approach to catechesis that will turn young people and adults toward rather than away from their tradition. This conference is designed for those who are courageous enough to not only consider a new model, but to actually jump into the experience as a way of learning about it and evaluating it.

QUOTE

The interaction among staff members and with participants and the emphasis on ‘social liturgy’ was inspiring and challenging.
--Participant in 1999

There is yet to be written a catechism that is more comprehensive and more nurturing to our faith than the liturgy itself.
--Nick Wagner
