St. Perigrine was born in 1265 in Forli, Italy, and spent the last
50 years of his life in dedicated service to the sick, the poor, and the
outcast of society. When he began to suffer from serious leg ulcers, the
doctor planned to remove his leg. Peregrine went into a deep, trance0like
sleep during which he envisioned the crucified Christ leaving the cross
and touching his leg. He was healed during this trance and is the patron
saint for those suffering from cancer. The sculptor, Lynn Kircher,
researched and sculpted this form for the church of the Magdalen in Wichita,
