COMMUNITY

by Rick Goodwin
During the octave of Easter, gather the whole community for storytelling, food, and song. Send special invitations to neophytes, parents of children baptized during the year, candidates received into full communion, godparents, and sponsors. The pastor and catechists can encourage storytelling based upon their life's journey. Return at the Pentecost vigil for a potluck supper. This time, include all those initiated through the sacraments of baptism, confirmation, and Eucharist during the Easter season. Encourage all to wear white. During the supper, lead the community in storytelling focused on praising God. This keeps the song of alleluia alive. End the festivity with an Easter blessing.
