| Keeping families actively involved with the Sunday readings
can be a tough task during the spring and summer, but a <->little creative
effort can help.
Provide families with fun ways to share the Sunday readings. Write each sentence of the following Sunday’s Gospel on numbered slips of paper. Hide the slips. Everyone looks for the slips, and when the hunt is complete, assemble the strips in order. Read and share on the Gospel together. The slips can be pasted on a background and displayed for everyone to see. Another fun way to keep the word active is to make a reflection book. After Sunday Mass, spend some time sharing what each person heard in the readings. This could be done in pictures or words. Make a picture-word album and add to it every week. Gather the day before or the morning of Mass and look over what was done the prior week. Recommended Reading Sunday’s Children by James Bitney and Suzanne Schaffhausen (Resource Publications, Inc.) |
