“The proclamation of the word transcends the mere communication
of information and becomes a community-building celebration of God’s saving
mystery …” (Lectionary for Masses with Children 50). Each week you
can move the Sunday readings from mere information to intimacy with Jesus
Christ by exercising the following with at least one person.
-
Proclaim the readings out loud.
-
Ask the Holy Spirit to help you uncover at least one human experience from
the readings.
-
Pray that this human experience be touched by God and transformed by the
living word.
-
Put into a credal question the words from the story. Example: Do you believe
in the free gift of grace from Jesus Christ who loves you above all creation?
I do believe. (Rom 5:12–15).
-
Create your own living response by developing general intercessions as
outlined in the sacramentary (General Instruction of the Roman Missal
45).
You can adapt this for use with the parish staff or catechetical team and
in your catechetical sessions. |
