Lead Your parish into the next century.

The Third Annual
LAY LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE
January 12-16, 1999
San Francisco, California

LEARN HOW TO:

  • create a vision that will motivate others
  • inspire others through effective leadership
  • communicate effectively with supervisors, colleagues, and volunteers
  • accomplish more through delegation
  • allocate limited resources

  • The LAY LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE
    is a unique experience
blending the practical and the theoretical
with the playful and the prayerful,
combining the elements of a guided retreat
with the skills and information of a workshop

This is a learning by doing workshop. In morning sessions, you will focus on specific skills that your parish needs to successfully meet the challenges of the new millenium. In the afternoon sessions, you will use these skills to envision and complete a specific project focused in the areas of Worship, Word, Community, and Service. In the context of these projects, you will have an opportunity to:
    • identify the core values of a community
    • balance the conflicting needs of people, ministry and administration
    • delegate responsibility
    • explore the characteristics of authentic leadership
    • practice collaborative problem solving and conflict resolution

    WHO SHOULD COME

This institute is not just for parish team or council members. It is recommended for parish participants (lectors, choir members, catechists, volunteers, etc.) and paid staff (secretaries, financial managers, pastoral associates, teachers, etc.) as well as anyone considering getting involved in parish community.

This Institute, sponsored by Ministry & Liturgy (formerly Modern Liturgy) Magazine, will inspire you, inform you and empower you to lead your church into the future. Come set the agenda for future action. Join us for an intensive and intimate exploration of how to be church in the new millennium.
