Fabricator: Peter C Scurlock / Renovata Studios
The wooden ark for this modern Jewish Temple is designed to appear as a permanent fixture in the sanctuary, but must be moveable to accommodate other celebrations. A key feature of the temple is an enormous glass wall on the entire rear wall with a forest of greenery behind. The doors, adorned with slivers of colord glass to signify the twelve tribes of Israel, swing out to create a backdrop for the entire sanctuary while showcasing the four Torah scrolls. Glass is also used in the back of the ark to give natural lighting to the Torah and to blend with the glass wall behind. The ark is made of mahogany and maple wood, Dalle de Verre glass, and etched glass. The dimensions are 88" x 72" x 27".
