New Bulletin Inserts — Enliven the First and Second Readings for Your Parish Community

SAN JOSE, Calif., November 20, 2008—Resource Publications announces the publication of Lectionary Bulletin Inserts, Year B: First and Second Readings, by Rev. Paul Turner.  This entirely new set of bulletin inserts is based on the first and second readings. They are designed to be reproduced in the parish bulletin, catechetical handouts, parish website, or other parish media.  The brief reflections help the readers understand the readings and challenge them to apply the message to their daily lives.  The inserts are provided in three different formats making it easy to copy and paste them into any media.  They can be viewed as a PDF with Adobe Reader.  They can be used as text files in any word processor software.  The formatted TIFF graphic images can be imported into existing documents.

Vatican II introduced more Scripture readings into the liturgy. The homily is usually on the Gospel reading. These inserts, reflections on the first and second readings, give insight into the other two readings people have heard at Mass. They are designed as bulletin inserts, but can be used in any parish publication, including the website.  Scripture study groups will also find them helpful.

Paul Turner, pastor of St. Munchin Parish in Cameron, MO, holds a doctorate in sacramental theology from Sant' Anselmo University in Rome. He is a regular columnist for Ministry & Liturgy magazine and author of The Catholic Wedding Answer Book, The Catechumenate Answer Book, ML Bulletin Inserts, and Preparing the Wedding Homily.
