New Practical Guide to Help Deepen Your Community's Worship Experience
SAN JOSE, Calif., May 12, 2009—Resource Publications announces the publication of a new title, "Nurturing Spiritual Depth in Christian Worship: Ten Practices." How do you make liturgy a prayerful experience for your community? Do you know what distracts them from this prayerfulness and how to deliberately maintain it? Experienced pastor, Rev. Janice Springer, offers ten practices to help every worship leader enhance the worship experience within the liturgical assembly. This book will assist those who lead worship as presiders, prayer leaders, or leaders of sung prayer to understand the dynamics within the worship experience. It suggests ideas and gives examples of what to do and what not to do. The suggestions are practical and uncomplicated. They are techniques which every worship leader will acknowledge with, "I can do that!"
This book is for clergy and lay leaders of prayer in all Christian denominations. Leading the community's worship begins with the leader's spiritual depth. Develop this depth by using the tools suggested. Assess the energy in a worship service, maintain it, and strengthen it. Draw people from their heads to their hearts and give them a sense of God's presence. Learn how to let them remain in their space of deep prayer. Explore specific ideas on using creativity to enhance the worship experience.

"This is the best book on Christian
worship I have ever read. Springer brilliantly sets forth the purpose of
Christian worship, and provides ten very specific practical ways to make
worship services more meaningful. I highly recommend her book to all pastors,
worship leaders, and Christians in general."
— Jim Marion, Author of "Putting on the Mind of Christ"
"This is a stunningly beautiful,
deeply effective book. Janice Springer challenges readers to lead worship
out of deep prayer. She addresses such vital matters as creating
safe intimacy in worship, opening to God's energy, and leading worship
that is inclusive of highly diverse personal needs and of the world's need
for justice. I wish someone had given me this book when I started in ministry
40 years ago. I fully expect people will still read it 40 years from
— Stephen Doughty, Writer, Former Executive Presbyter, Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)
