Active assembliesWhat helps the assembly participate more fully and consciously in the liturgy? That is the question Samuel Torvend asks in "Shaping the Ritual" on page 17. Reflecting on the Notre Dame Study of Catholic Parish Life, Torvend list several things that will get your assembly more fully involved in parish worship. Robert Habiger has the same goal in his article, "One Room Worship" on page 4. Habiger's point is that we may think we have updated our worship spaces, but we might still be promoting a passive assembly. What steps have you taken to help the assembly participate? What has worked well for you? What would you recommend to other parishes? Send your best ideas to share with the rest of us. Write to ML, 160 E. Virginia St., #290, San Jose, CA 95112. Or send e- mail to MdrnLitrgy@aol.com. Come see us at the NPM conventionI'll be there, along with music editor John Hajda. We'd love to hear your feedback about ML, Simple Gifts, and any RPI products you find useful or you think could be more useful. Tim and Julie Smith will also be there. They will be performing pieces from their new collection I WILL SING/CANTAR. This is an exciting collection of bilingual psalms. Call for picturesDo you have baptism pictures you'd like to share? ML is looking for some interesting photos of immersion baptisms. They can be of infants, children, or adults. If you have some you'd like to send, mail them to ML, Baptism Photos, 160 E. Virginia St. #290, San Jose, CA 95112. Your photos will be returned to you, BUT DON'T SEND YOUR ONLY COPIES. You never know what can happen. Lay Leadership IIReaders will recall that ML sponsored a Lay Leadership Institute in January (Inside ML, ML 24:3). The planners have decided to sponsor a second institute in January 1998. It will be held in the San Francisco Bay area again, and it will include two tracks. Watch future issues of ML for more details. NW |
