“Worship is not the
‘point of entry.’ You are!” writes Marva J. Dawn in “Worship for
Postmodern Times” (page 20 ff). Dawn thinks there is an issue of “truth”
at stake in the coming age, and she worries that churches — in an effort
to stay current with the changing times — will sacrifice the message for
the sake of the medium. It is not a new fear, but it does have new facets.
What is unchanging is the solution: relationships that create stability,
security, faith, hope and love. Read Dawn’s article to see how your parish
can be a witness to the Gospel in the postmodern era.
Author news
Our “Better Late
Than Never” department would like to offer a heartfelt thanks to Vickie
Jennett for providing ML readers with the Home Church column over these
last several years. The last edition of the column appeared in the
February issue. Besides writing Home Church, Vickie is a principal author
in the popular MOMS series published by Resource Publications, Inc. Her
latest book is MOMStories: Quiet Contemplations for Mothers.
ML also welcomes
Kevin Yell, who is authoring the new Environment and Art column
(page 35). His column debuted in the April issue. Although Kevin’s column
is new to ML, he is not. He is a key team member on ML’s Liturgical Arts
Adventure, and you can participate in a “live” version of his column at
the next Adventure this August in Minneapolis (see the inside back cover
for details).
