The large ring of the advent
wreath is approximately 48" in diameter and 6" in height. It is embellished
with raised letters from the O antiphons of Advent: O Lord; O Wisdom; O
Key of David; O Emmanuel. The rounded top cap is approximately 8" in diameter
and 3" in height and has the impression of a cross inside, so that if one
is standing under the wreath it is possible to look up through the rings
and see the cross.
The three layers of the rings
are joined by brass chain approximately 36 inches in length. A single chain
hangs from the cap to the ceiling and is approximately 8' long. With the
chain from the ceiling, the entire piece is approximately 15' in height.
The piece is hung from a single lag bolt in a rafter. During Advent, the
wreath hangs to the right of the ambo in the sanctuary. It is lit before
the liturgy begins.
