Curves and lightness of light were used in the design of the furnishings to express the identity of the church's namesake, Mary. The altar with its turned axis base reflects the dynamics of the tapered and angled ceiling panels that converge over its center high above. For the curved arms, 17 compound tapered laminates were re-sawn, bent and formed to hold and present the altar top. The ambo was designed to be wheelchair accessible with a reading surface cantilevered off to the side. The curved front arms of the presider and deacon chairs provide a place for a book pocket that is not visible from the assembly. The cantor stand was designed to represent the lyrical and flowing expression of music without looking awkward at different height adjustments. Wood and metal are combined for the locking and tracking mechanism. The coppered bases of the candlesticks have brass components that lift out from the pieces of cherry burl in order to process.
