The renovation of the sanctuary invokes the spirit of Vatican II by creating a central sanctuary predella with altar, ambo, and chair that is surrounded by the seating for the assembly. The apse has been redesigned as a much needed sacristy with a new reredos wall and crucifix separating it from the worship space. Above the sacristy and behind the upper part of the reredos wall is a hiding place for the new air conditioning equipment that was also required in this renovation. The original high altar of the intricately carved marble and mosaic was carefully disassembled and recomposed in the form of the tabernacle tower erected in the former work sacristy.
