12 1/2' in height. 1600 pounds. Bronze and Steel.The panels facing the altar show the four evangelists sculpted with their associated animals, depicted writing their gospels. The rear of the gates display the Latin text of "Adoro te Devote." The gates are anchored into the floor by a center panel, unseen when the Gates are closed. They are designed to be rolled open, widening the structure by nearly three feet on either side. When open, the center panel sunburst is revealed. Each gate opens easily and moves smoothly. The 8 " thick Gates are intersected by eight squares on either side forming mirror-polished channels running through the panels. The Gates reflect the original chapel architecture designed by Emmanuel Louis Masqueray in the early 20th century.
