CELEBRATING THE LECTIONARY
UPGRADES SCHEDULED FOR 1999-2000

Resource Publications, Inc. has scheduled several new improvements to its line of
Celebrating the Lectionary (CTL) products.

Celebrating the Lectionary is an annual series of loose-leaf packets that enable parish leaders to form age specific groups, from pre-school children to adults, around the Sunday readings and the liturgy. Most packets contain photocopiable handout masters, a format that reduces cost, eliminates waste, and improves flexibility.

The most dramatic improvement is the addition of a new YOUTH packet for 1999-2000. The new packet, intended to work in both parish youth ministry and high school settings, will have a different format than the other age-based packets. Sessions will follow a Five W’s model: Welcome, Word, Worship, Work, and Wrap-up.

As a result, the JUNIOR-SENIOR Packet, now being used for 12-to-15 year olds, will be refocused on 12-to-13 year olds and will be called the JUNIOR YOUTH Packet in 1999-2000. “This change recognizes that you can’t work with high school youth the same way you do with 12-and-13 year olds,” said Liz Montes, editor of Celebrating the Lectionary.

The company is in the midst of an effort to provide CTL customers with more background and training in liturgical catechesis. It recently started a subscription newsletter, Liturgical Catechesis, and is sending it free for the year to all CTL customers. In addition, it is preparing the second Liturgical Catechesis Conference for the summer of 1999.
