New preaching resource
guarantees faith impact on listeners!
SAN JOSE, Calif., August 8, 2006 — Resource Publications announces a
book for preachers seeking to effectively break open the word with their
congregations. Author and popular homilist Father Eddie Samaniego shares
his "tricks of the trade" for maximizing the interest level and impact
of homilies:
-
Explore the 4 rules of good public speaking.
-
Ask yourself the 3 questions for successful faith formation (to which every
homilist should answer yes).
-
Find your voice, and cultivate your style.
-
Discover how to connect with each listener — even though each of them processes
information in a different way!
-
Learn the 6 principles of preparation.
In addition to these practical tips, Samaniego includes 28 of his most
powerful homilies to demonstrate the use of stories in preaching and to
illustrate how he incorporates the four rules of good public speaking.
An exhaustive bibliography of preaching resources for further study rounds
out the content of this book.
After nearly twelve years as associate pastor and then pastor of
Christ the King parish in San Diego, "Father Eddie" has served as pastor
of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in San Jose, California, since 2003.
He holds master's degrees in divinity and theology from the Jesuit School
of Theology in Berkeley, California. He has given retreats to young and
old, and he has preached near and far, including Mexico City and Salamanca,
Spain.
