New resource forms all
parishioners in their liturgical ministry
SAN JOSE, Calif., June 16, 2008—Resource Publications announces the
publication of a new book intended for all parishioners, The Ministry
of the Assembly.
Vatican II calls the assembly to "full, active, conscious participation."
What exactly does that mean? This book explores the liturgy and clearly
explains the ministry of the members of the assembly at each point. How
is it a ministry? What are we supposed to do? When? It explains the assembly's
role by looking at its history and it encourages understanding by identifying
items used in liturgy, such as vessels, vestments and colors. It briefly
looks at the seasons. It's a "how-to" book with inspiration.
It establishes the assembly as an important liturgical symbol and ministry
in itself.
This book gives an overview of the liturgy and a step-by-step guide
to catechize everyone on the most important ministry in liturgy, the ministry
of the assembly. Designed for all who participate in liturgy, it is a perfect
gift for those entering the church as catechumens or candidates. With bulk
pricing, it can be made available to all the members of a parish to inspire
them to greater understanding and participation.
Caroline Thomas has a master’s degree in pastoral liturgy
from Santa Clara University. She has worked in parishes as a liturgist
for over 14 years and continues to be excited by the transformative potential
of the liturgy.
