David Philippart Named Editor of Liturgical Catechesis Magazine.

SAN JOSE, Calif., July 28, 2004 - Resource Publications, Inc. is pleased to announce David Philippart as the new editor for Liturgical Catechesis magazine. David is a familiar part of the Resource Publications team, having written for Liturgical Catechesis as well as Ministry & Liturgy magazines, and is a published author in the field of worship. We are proud to have him expand his role with Resource Publications by bringing his pastoral and editorial wisdom to Liturgical Catechesis. David, of course, comes to us with excellent credentials and we look forward to his building on the solid beginnings of the magazine with an increased focus on integrating liturgy, catechesis, and justice in parish practice.

David is committed to advancing the renewal of church life begun by the Second Vatican Council. A friend and colleague to liturgists, catechists and schoolteachers, he works to support others in their ministry. He teaches and publishes widely about liturgy and catechesis. His book Saving Signs, Wondrous Words is a mystagogical reflection on gestures and prayers, and he has written a workbook for children who serve Mass, Serve God with Gladness. He has 22 years of experience in teaching and catechesis, 14 years of experience in publishing, and 10 years of experience in parish pastoral work (as a pastoral associate, religious education director and liturgy director). David lives in Chicago, where he is also adjunct instructor in liturgy at the Institute for Pastoral Studies at Loyola University.

Liturgical Catechesis, under David Philippart’s editorial leadership, will continue to provide tools for parish ministers who, trained as specialists, are now called by vision and necessity to integrate several disciplines into one, whole-parish ministry effort.
