New Editor Moves “Celebrating The Lectionary” Forward for 2005–2006!

SAN JOSE, Calif., May 23, 2005 — Resource Publications announces the reorganization of its whole-parish faith formation program, Celebrating The Lectionary, under the guiding hand of new editor Janet Miller.

Miller has been involved with faith formation for more than thirty-five years.  First a catechist and CCD coordinator, then a Catholic school teacher, she is now a catechetical writer, consultant, and presenter. She worked on the teams in the Diocese of Fresno, Calif., to develop master catechist formation and youth ministry formation.  Janet has been a presenter in the ministry formation and diaconate programs.  She graduated from Santa Clara University’s pastoral ministries program with a master’s degree in catechetics, and her thesis became the subject of a book, Catechizing for Justice, published by Resource Publications.  A featured guest for many years on Channel 49, KNXT, Fresno, she is a frequent faith presenter in the Diocese of Fresno and beyond.  She resides in Dos Palos with her husband and is the mother of four grown children.

Miller, together with editorial manager Helen St.Paul and a team of experienced and highly qualified writers, provides an outstanding liturgy-based, whole-parish faith formation program with a spiraling approach to systematic doctrine.  New for this year is a Scope & Sequence, which outlines the doctrinal focus at each developmental age.  CTL continues to be grounded in the liturgy, the Sunday readings, and the liturgical calendar, acknowledging the liturgy as the heart of Christian life.

The program, based on the baptismal catechumenate model of faith formation, spans the life cycle — from age three through adults. The focus is on forming disciples who, nurtured through liturgy and catechesis, go forth into family life, the workplace, and communities to carry on the mission of Jesus. There are no textbooks to buy with this approach.  CTL’s catechist packets contain complete sessions. Participant handouts may be copied as needed.

The packets have been renamed to reflect the integration of systematic doctrinal content, and they have been reorganized into age groups that more accurately reflect learning and developmental groupings.  Click here for more detailed information.
