New adult faith formation book answers U.S. bishops' call

SAN JOSE, Calif., October 2, 2002— Resource Publications, Inc.'s new book, A Practical Guide for Starting an Adult Faith Formation Program puts the U.S. bishops' vision of a complete adult faith formation program in every parish into practice through its simple step-by-step plan.

“The book is designed to meet the need and right of every Catholic adult to on-going growth in his/her personal relationship with God. The church provides programs to this end for children and teens, and the time for adults has come as expressed in the bishops' document (Our Hearts Were Burning Within Us),” says author Richard Brown.

A Practical Guide for Starting an Adult Faith Formation Program provides a full first-year plan based on an Emmaus model of adult catechesis. The book helps practitioner audiences understand the bishops' vision, learn to develop their own vision, organize teams, promote their ministry, recruit volunteers, and match skills to ministry needs.

The guide is intended for parish and diocesan leadership, from directors of religious education and diocesan schools of ministry to pastors, catechists, catechumenate teams, youth ministers and all other ministries dealing with adult parishioners.
