Lent handbook for small groups available SAN JOSE, Calif., Oct. 28, 2002 - Sharing the Lectionary for Lent 2003, a handy reference for small faith-sharing groups involved in Lenten season reflections, is now available. The handbook, which is on its sixth year of publication, guides small groups through a six-week process in which they can "journey through Lent with other members of (the) faith community." "Each week you will pray, reflect quietly on the first reading and the Gospel, share personal responses to what you have heard, and discuss what you can do together to make this a special season," the book reads. "By focusing on the Gospel stories for Lent, you will go more deeply into the Easter story than you ever thought possible - and you will emerge with a depth of faith that will enrich your life for years to come." "By thinking through reflection questions and sharing personal experiences, readers apply the Gospel to their lives and gain a deeper understanding of the Scriptures. The process builds community by encouraging readers to explore the connections between their faith and their relationships," editor Kathi Scarpace explains. The book includes the Sunday readings for Lent, Cycle B, and brief commentaries on each reading, making it effective and convenient for small groups to use. It also contains Cycle A readings for the third, fourth and fifth Sundays, for use by catechumenate groups. The Sharing the Lectionary for Lent series began in 1998 and has been published yearly by Resource Publications, Inc. # # # SHARING THE LECTIONARY FOR LENT 2003
