Instructions for importing E-Ordo into Palm Date Book
Some older versions of the Palm Desktop software do not import vCal (.vcs)
files. To find out if your version will import vCal files:
- Open Palm Desktop.
- Click File.
- Click Import.
- Click the drop-down arrow for “Files of type.”
If you do not see “vCal File (*.vcs)” as one of the choices of file
types, then you will need to download and install the latest version of
the free Palm Desktop from the Palm website (www.PalmOne.com,
under the Support tab).
IMPORTANT NOTE: Before importing E-Ordo, back up your Palm data.
Once the E-Ordo data is imported, you can only remove it one day at a time.
It is recommended that you first set up a new user into which you import
the data for a “test drive” to see what it looks like before importing
it into the user that synchronizes with your Palm handheld.
Download the vCal file for your time zone to a folder or to your desktop
so you can later access the file.
To import the data into Palm Desktop:
- Open Palm Desktop.
- Click File.
- Click Import.
- In the “Files of type” box, use the drop-down arrow to select “vCal
File (*.vcs)”.
- In the “Look in” box, use the drop-down arrow to browse to the location
of the E-Ordo file you downloaded.
- Click on the downloaded E-Ordo file.
- Click Import.
- You may see a message about the 1st Sunday of Advent and how it
is scheduled for more than one day. It asks if you would like it to convert
it to a single-day event. Click Yes.
Once the data is in your date book, you can move your cursor over the
event to see the details or edit the event and click on the notes tab.
Return to the main E-Ordo webpage.
