Good News for Your Autumn Years takes the special spirituality of
the older adult into account.
Sr. T. Josephine Lawler, a specialist on aging, notes how Lukes
Gospel parallels the life cycle
of human beings. Large type and gentle reflection questions make this a
reader-friendly book. With the
help of a leaders guide, you can use this book as the basis for five
faith-sharing sessions.
Reviews
Rooted in the best of biblical scholarship, shaped by contemporary
gerontological awareness,
and most significantly enriched by personal insight and
compassion, this book deserves
wide readership. A direct gift to all of us in the second half of life, the book
should find a significant
place as well in training programs for healthcare services, hospice
volunteers, pastoral ministers and
pastors.
Evelyn Eaton Whitehead, Institute of Pastoral Studies, Loyola
University of Chicago,
co-author of Christian Life Patterns
Sr. T. Josephine Lawler does a valuable service in helping believers
meditate on aging in light
of Lukes Gospel. Often her insights assist our contemplation of
Scripture and its application to
personal aging. But her method of reflection may be even more useful in
that it allows us to find
different meanings, according to our own understandings and needs in
elderhood.
Eugene C. Bianchi, Emory University, Atlanta, author of
Aging as a Spiritual Journey
and Elder Wisdom
Church ministers will welcome this spiritually insightful book and the
excellent leaders guide as a means of preparing members of their
congregations who are involved with ministry to the elderly.
Sr. Lorretta Wallauer, SBS, director of the Spiritual Life Program,
Catholic Charities, Los Angeles
