This guide to developing a Ministry of Mothers Sharing (MOMS) in your
community leaves no stone unturned — from recruiting your staff to planning
your budget, from facilitating the sessions to evaluating the program.
"Getting Started" shows you what materials you need, what a MOMS costs,
how to publicize and how to prepare for the first session. Each of the
eight session outlines includes a facilitator's preparation page, the detailed
session plan and a facilitator's reflection page. The prayer rituals are
step-by-step guides for leading the group in spiritual reflection. The
"Development of the Ministry" chapter gives you information and resources
for maintaining your ongoing ministry. The appendices provide staff member
job descriptions plus all the forms and sample materials you will use throughout
the program — all reproducible!
This book is also available as part of a special
MOMS Evaluation Kit, set of four titles
Reviews
"MOMS: Developing a Ministry is excellent! Easy to follow
and adaptable to any parish setting or situation ... This program could
be utilized in many community settings other than parishes, such as pre-school
PTA groups, neighborhood clusters and Mother's Day Out programs."
— Anne C. Keough, director, Family Life Ministry, Holy Spirit Catholic
Church, Duncanville, Texas
"The MOMS central strength is the Developing a Ministry
manual, which makes the program user-friendly. Although MOMS recommends
the help of a staff person to begin with, the manual's completeness and
clarity will ensure successful implementation by confident and responsive
volunteers."
ù Valerie Dillon, director, Family Life Ministry, Archdiocese of
Indianapolis
"I see MOMS: Developing a Ministry as priceless in developing
leadership for the MOMS program. It has a step-by-step guide so that energy
is not dissipated looking for resources."
— Donna M. Hanson, Office for Social Ministries, Diocese of Spokane,
Wash.
