Reviews
This book represents a significant breakthrough in defining the
parameters of the therapeutic
relationship. Barbara Friedman, in sharing her own experiences, supports
those of us who recognize
that healing occurs not only through the expertise of the counselor but,
more importantly, through the
willingness of the counselor to risk entering into the I-Thou relationship as
defined by Martin Buber.
Maryellen Young, minister, Unity Church of Christianity,
Chesterland, Ohio
Great work, good foundation, good analysis ... I have read this work
with great relish and think
it prepares [us] for a new paradigm.
Dr. Arnold Mindell, author, founder of the Global Process
Institute
Everyone in the helping and healing arts should be exposed to this
book.
Bryan Christopher, founder of the Dahlia Foundation in
LIGHT
Barbara writes with verve and conviction.
Riane Eisler, author of The Chalice and the Blade
I see in this book a new vision of therapy that supports the dignity of
the client. It encourages
us to take power and responsibility and to enter into the creation of the kind
of therapeutic
relationship that is best for us.
