Give young people a view of prison life almost as intense as being there. Stay in School, Stay out of Prison is an illustrated book by an insider — a lifer in a maximum security prison. It covers the many freedoms lost (many more than children can imagine) when one is in prison, the living situation, death row and forms of execution, food, the danger of prison life and much more. The haunting pen and ink drawings make this a “scared straight” program in a book. This book works for upper elementary, middle-school and even some high-school age students.

About the Author

Author David Stuart Schofield was convicted of murder and is serving time in a Texas penitentiary. Writing is his way of trying to accomplish something positive with his life — and his recent efforts have focused on teaching children the importance of civilized behavior and respect for the law. This is his first book.
