1. If you are newly downloading a demo of SacReg, then you can skip to step 4. If you are already using SacReg 4.0 and you are downloading the file as an update, then launch the already installed SacReg program, go to the File menu, and note the paths and file names given at the bottom of the list of File options shown. Keep these notes for use later in the process.
2. Obtain your customer key for version 4.0, as you will need the key to open the full program.
3. Go to Start | Settings | Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs, and remove Sacramental Register 4.0 from your system. This will NOT remove your data files from your system.
4. Connect to the internet and surf to www.rpinet.com/products/sacrg4.html. Scroll down to where it says to click to download a demo of Sacramental Register 4.0. Click on this link, and follow the instructions to download Sacramental Register as SR4Demo.exe.
5. Put SR4Demo.exe in a temporary and empty folder. Note the folder name.
6. Start | Run | Browse to the folder from step 5 and run the file named SR4Demo.exe. This unpacks the installation kit, and it also launches the setup program to begin installing Sacramental Register 4.0.Follow the screens along to install the demo.
7. If you are using the program as a demo, then to launch the program either click on the icon which the setup program places on your desktop or go to Start | Programs | Sacramental Register | Sacramental Register 4.0.exe. When the SacReg program launches, click OK at the password prompt, and then "ignore" at the next prompt to enter the program as a guest user.
8. To use the program as a demo, click on the File menu and select
Create a new set of data files. Create each new set of files in a separate
new folder. Create new files with any file name you wish, provided it ends
in the character zero, followed by point adt. For example, StJohnChurch0.adt
would be a valid file name. Once created, click on enter or edit data,
and add data for as many new sacrament recipients as you like, along with
specifics for any sacraments received. You must add first and last names
and a baptism date as a minimum. View the help file for any necessary instructions.
Enjoy.
9. The demo version is limited. It will permit any set of data files to be opened up to five times, and it prints a fixed church name on all certificates.
10. To uninstall the demo, go to start | settings | control panel and click on add/remove programs. Find Sacramental Register in the list and click on it to remove it from your system. You will have to remove separately any sets of data files you create with the program.
11. If you are installing to update your version 4.0, double click on the program icon to launch the program. Enter your customer key when prompted for it, and then re-enter the parish name and address.
12. Within the running SacReg program, go to the Help menu and select About Sacramental Register. You should see a statement verifying that you have installed version 4.03.
13. If you are updating an existing installation, then within the running SacReg program, go to the File menu, select Open Existing files, and browse to the folder and file noted in step 1. Once opened and closed, this set of files should appear at the bottom of the file menu each time the program is launched.
