Simplicity, yes. From overstated to plain. I prefer the later, but am wanting for a bit more color. I, on the other hand, like the one pedestal altar; it offsets the 4 large pillars surrounding the altar in such a narrow space.
Peace,

Indeed, that is the counterpoint to the four pillars. Counterpoint, rather than echo, as it were.
That altar might beg for a lovely antependium for the five major feasts of the Lord (Christmas, Epiphany, Paschal Triduum (except Good Friday, of course), Ascension and Pentecost) and for patronal (parochial, diocesan and national) feasts, as it were.

Not "might" beg, Karl, definitely needed. And, hopefully the white seasons would not be white on white, but color on a white background!
Peace,
Ron

Yes, noble simplicity doesn't have to mean "plain'. I would like more color and art.

WHAT?! No tabernacle?
Just kidding. I like it, but I agree that it could do with a splash of color. Perhaps more shiny metals.

Some gold gilding would be a nice accent.

Look at the shadow, could that be a processional cross that was just placed by the wall?
I'm going against the grain too, but I like the design. Like Anne, I seriously doubt that that's the same place as the colorful church on the right. This is a chapel. No windows above the pews and the pews are very different.

Yes, I don't think this is a budget design, but rather a Cistercian approach, if you will.
