M & H Reed organ to the rescue

Us New Englanders got it with an early Snow/Ice storm last night and early this morning. Halfway through the liturgy, we lost power to the sanctuary, and of course the pipe and electronic organs.

So I slid off the bench and uncovered the recently acquired Mason & Hamlin Reed Organ, and finished the liturgy on that with the pianist!

And it being Reformation Sunday for us, all the hymns were old chesnuts which people know by heart. Thank goodness, A Mighty Fortress got sung at the beginning with the Hook-Hastings.

Who says these reed organ instruments are antiquated and useless? Laughing

Is your power back on?
We lost power last night around 11PM after a couple of trees came down in the neighborhood. It was a cold night without a furnace kicking on! It returned around 5am.

Oh sorry, it was way too cold to be without heat, though since we haven't got the new boiler installed for the sanctuary, the temp was at 48 degrees for the liturgy.

I'll find out tomorrow morning about the power, when supposedly the elevator gets inspected, or gets not inspected ! Rolling Eyes

Strange situation, the basement part of the church was fine, but everything upstairs blew, and none of the circuit breakers would correct, plus the traffic lights outside were out, etc. Another Church Mystery ! Twisted Evil
