: If you were to attend a High Choral Eucharist in an Episcopal/Anglican Church, how do they all handle the balance between sung propers and hymns?

: Chris S.

As far as propers go, not having played for the Epicopalians for a number of years, I hawled out my Book of Common prayer to jog my memory, and I remembered correctly. The only real "proper" in the catholic sense of "proper" is the collect and the preface, which of course, are not recited or sung by anyone but the priest. As far as introits and such, those are congregational hymns.

Rob's comments are entirely correct. The Anglican Chant is used for the Psalm, and is in 4 parts. There are also chant settings for the Ordinary as well, but as for introits, offertories, communions, those are hymns.
