The friars try to encourage the congregation to use #2. It gets clunky after a while. They've even changed the wording in the Gloria and in other places in order to avoid referring to God as "Him." They've tried to do something similar in the Creed ("for us and for our salvation," as opposed to "for us men and for our salvation").

I guess I'm stubborn and I don't listen. And I'm not the only one. The other PIP's use #3, despite the fact that the friar is speaking #2 into the wireless headset-microphone.
