Ah yes, and here we are back to the claim that if we were to rid the priesthood of homosexuals, then all would be well with the world.

Is that what are you saying? That homosexual males, who are normal and well adjusted in every other respect, lose control of themselves when in the presence of young boys and assault them? Or, are you saying that it is not possible for homosexuals to behave in a non-sexual manner under any circumstances? You've never had any interaction ever with a homosexual male that has been on a non-sexual and professional level, or are you under the impression that every male you have ever had interaction with was heterosexual because you would "know" if they weren't?

Michael,

Whatever problems you may or may not have with homosexuality on a personal level has nothing to do with changes that need to be made in the selection and management of priests. Simply screening for homosexuality is not going to answer much, if anything. Assuming that your published reports (whatever they may be) are correct and 80% of the priests who abused were homosexual, what do you want to do about the remaining 20%? What's their excuse? Is this an acceptable ratio in your view? Is the abuse less offensive to you in some way if it can be said that the abuser was at least heterosexual?

Talk about avoiding the real problem.
