I was referring primarily to diocesan priests. I have no idea what the statistics are like for those belonging to relgious orders. I only have anecdotal information based on my brothers' high school experience with the Franciscan friars that ran their school and my own son's high school experience with the Salesian brothers that run his school, and my own experience with the Norbertines whom I've spent time with on retreat.

Beyond that, I have nothing to go on and I would be reluctant to make any kind of comparison.

: Your assertion about the need by priests for advice and guidance from colleagues and supervisors is interesting. I assume that you are referring here primarily to diocesan priests rather than to priests who belong to orders in which communal life (conventual, I believe is a word that is used in the orders) is observed as a rule. Do you know if the statistics for abuse by priests belonging to orders are any different?

: Mark
