: No one should find anything soothing or comforting in the idea of doing an actual statistical analysis. Setting up a valid protocol would go a long way towards coming up with long term and effective solutions.

How many kids and young men will be abused while you are doing your statistical analysis and setting up valid protocols??

: The numbers as they are given right now are pretty meaningless. You could use these same numbers to tell me that 80% of abusive priests were found to have brown hair and draw the same conclusions - eliminate all brown haired priests and there will be fewer incidents of abuse. I guess there would be as there would be fewer priests to start with.

A higher % of gay men have aids than heterosexual men; but it could really be a factor of hair color or some other characteristic. Being a Christian does not require that a person be a fool.

: Go back and look for statistics on sexual abuse in the general population. Go and look for statistics on sexual abuse in the Protestant clergy. Try to even find statistics on sexual abuse by evangelical and non-Christian ministers. If you can find that in each of those categories the incidents of sexual abuse by homosexuals was higher than their heterosexual counterparts, then you can make a case for homosexuality being a significant risk factor.

I am only interested in abuse in the Catholic Church.

Consider a hypothetical: You are running a diocese. I am running a diocese. In which diocese will there be less chance of priests abusing children and young men?

You want to error on the side of the priests and Bishops. I want to error on the side of childern and young men.

By the way the answer is: Your diocese will be rotten with abuse because you have exactly the attitude of the heterodox church establishment that has allowed the abuse in the first place.
