Possibly. But for priests I think much of the abuse has been a crime of opportunity. More boys were abused because more boys were available. It has never been the norm to have girls hanging around with the priest. In cases around here, the abusers were equal opportunity abusers -- if girls were available they were abused too.

The most horrific case out of the US involved a priest who abused both boys and girls, was laicized, married & had kids and abused his own children.

In many cases outside the church the pedophiles who abuse boys have a wife and kids (my brother-in-law for one).
