Conventional opinion is that it looks like a "pimple."

I don't see it myself.
What I do see is that it is ugly, out of the way, less well lit and prominent than the Virgin's altar that occupies the same area on the opposite side of the main altar, and generally a fine example of architecture that tries to downplay the Real Presence of Jesus Christ in the Blessed Sacrament.

Just my opinion.

Fine organs there, though, and an excellent new piano, I understand.
