I am speaking from a different viewpoint, but they have this in Finland, called the Thomas Mass, and at least there it has been very sucessful. Age of attendees 30-40, has reversed a declining attendance issue for the Lutheran Church in Finland.

A search on the net will give you more information, I came across it by mistake looking for some music. But I think the points you mention are important, and maybe at one time, the hours of 7AM - 12 noon on Sunday were '"sacred", but our culture certainly has changed. Even Catholic Schools schedule sports events Sunday mornings!

From my viewpoint, there is something rather nice about ending Sunday with worship, as we prepare for another week!

I'm sure there are guidelines, rules and rubrics concerning this, I am simply speaking from a practical viewpoint.

: I read Mary Testin's article in the April issue with great interest. We have a Sunday evening Mass here at 6:00PM. While it is not the largest assembly by any means, it does have a regular group of people who attend. Most of them are busy, but using the weekend for family time is a priority for many of them. We also have many people who have to work - nurses, doctors, etc. who are able to attend Mass with their families because we do have a Mass.
: I am the Catechumente Director in our parish, and because I work on Sunday and sometimes on Saturday- (all of our RCIA sessions take place on Sunday), sometimes is works for my husband and I to be able to take a breath and really celebrate Eucharist.
: Things are not always as they appear.
